I purchased the Gold Edition: game & add-on of Rise of Nations + thrones & patriots from a Toyworld Store here in Australia for $29.99.
Love these games, so was excited to load & play. However, when I tried I was asked to input a 25 letter code. I have hunted high and low on the case but cannot find one.
Conclusion I came to was that because Toyworld removed cd's from displayed case (to conteract stealing) they put them into a plastic bag. Perhaps original was lost or there was some printed literature inside case cover.
So, without password/code I cannot even load game.
Toyworld will not refund as I don't have the receipt (although they remember me buying there it & it has their sticker on it) and can't replace as they don't have anymore of this game in stock.
I would dearly love to play this game, so would it be possible to get this password/code?
I'm a 64 year old lady - which is why they remembered me - and I get great pleasure from playing computer games curled up on the lounge with my mini-foxie dogs alone on my farm which is 30klms from the nearest shop.

I am sorry but it is against the Code of Conduct to ask for CD keys. Your best legal bet would be to break your cds and mail them to big huge games and ask for a new CD key along with new CDs (Although this would cost more money).
Your story however also sounds very suspicious, as the CD key is on the back of the CD case. If you really are in need and actually bought the game I feel sorry for you and would suggest an illegal method, but I know none.

Thank you for your advise, Red Revolution. I got frustrated this afternoon and was able to get a phone number for Microsoft here in Australia. The young men there were very helpful and gave me two product keys, but both proved invalid. Apparently, this game is getting a bit old and much information has been removed from the files.
There definately is no product key on the back of the case. I've found the receipt after a lot of searching and on Microsoft's advise am taking the game back to Toyworld as they said they should not be selling games that are faulty.They said there should have been a small booklet inside the front cover and that the key was probably on that.
So, for the mean time I'll go back to playing Civ 4 with all the add ons.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Your only other bet would be to buy online like from amazon. Always sad to see some ne who can't enjoy what was probably the greatest strategy game of its time.

I just bought this same exact game (Gold Edition).
The codes (There are 2, one for the basic game and 1 for the Thrones and Patriots expansion) were on a piece of paper inside of the DVD case.
There were no codes on the back of the case other the bar code, which is different.
Maybe if you make a photo copy of the back of the case including the bar code and send it to microsoft along with an explanation they might give you the activation codes.
Or, you could look online for a new copy.

From Otter: Wasn't offering an illegal way, I have a program that can check to see if the disk is a legit copy or a burned copy.

this toyworld, is it like toys r'us?
my advice is dont buy any games from toy stores. u shouldve bought them from i.t stores

If you have Gold Edition, you shouldn't need TaP. TaP is already included in RoN Gold.
